Colin Ives Recent Shows
Colin Ives is one of six international artists invited to present work in the show Nature Transformer at the Microwave International New Media Festival 2009 in Hong Kong. It is the Festivals 12th anniversary: bring a fusion of technology and art to Hong Kong since 1996. His project Nocturne will be presented for the festival this November. Professor Ives was also recently invited to produce a new video for the series Soft Science curated by Rachel Mayeri. This new work Brighton was premiered at the Antimatter Film Festival in Victoria, B.C. October 15th. The Soft Science series is available through the Video Data Bank. Colin Ives is the current artist in residence with the UO/SWF Artist in Residence Program. This a partnership between the University of Oregon in Portland and South Waterfront Community Relations in cooperation with the resident headed South Waterfront 20/20 Art, Culture & Science Committee. The residency will coincide with his teaching the fall term Digital Arts BFA at the University of Oregons White Stag Block. Also for fall term he received a gift from Intel to develop and team teach a studio class addressing issues of Art and Ecology. The class The Machine in the Garden: Rethinking urban gardens in the 21st century, is an interdisciplinary class taught by Ives, Landscape Architect Liska Chan, and artist and Intel researcher Tad Hirsch.News »
