Beginning Fall 2008, the Digital Arts BFA year will take place in Portland at the university's newly renovated White Stag Block. Students will be able to take advantage of professional development opportunities Portland offers, including internships with local design firms such as Second Story, Ziba, and many more. The program will also connect to the design community through visiting faculty and lecturers.
The Digital Arts facilities and classrooms are shared with the new Product Design program and occupy the 4th floor of the White Stag building. Large-format printing, laser cutter, and rapid prototyping equipment will be available, along with a wood shop, sound lab, and screening room. The White Stag Block will house programs in Journalism, Architecture, and Business along with exhibition spaces, library facilities, computer labs, and cafe.
The deadline to apply to the Digital Arts BFA is March 3, 2008. To apply, please pick up an application form or download the Digital Arts BFA Application and sign up for an interview time in the Art Office, 198 Lawrence Hall. All potential Digital Arts BFA students will have a 20 minute interview with the faculty, which will serve as the application process. Bring a completed application form and portfolio to the interview. Each student will present their best work and propose ideas/directions for their BFA project. This interview will determine acceptance into the BFA in Digital Arts.
